Hi everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic and safe weekend on the lakefront...we sure did! This past weekend was huge for all of us at Gordy’s with the Cobalt R6 reveal on Friday, and our annual Splash Bash customer appreciation event on Saturday at Big Foot Beach!

As many of you probably already know by now, Cobalt has officially released their brand new R6 model on Friday via Facebook live. The Cobalt R6 is said to be “the next generation of R series from Cobalt”. It also includes new and exclusive features such as new exterior graphics, a newly designed glass cockpit with Garmin instruments, and an increased amount of storage for sporting gear.

We had a great turnout for our R6 livestream event which included a livestream of Cobalt’s reveal from their Facebook, followed by our very own livestream showcasing the R6 in person! Those who came out to our lakefront location in Fontana were able to take a personal tour inside the R6 and could experience everything up close and personal!

Following the R6 reveal was our annual Splash Bash, the biggest event of the year. For those that don’t know, Splash Bash is basically a very big thank you to customers who have purchased and service a Cobalt, Everglades or Mastercraft with us. Everyone gathers with their boats and anchors at Big Foot Beach in Lake Geneva. Although this was my first year working the event, I know that this year's Splash Bash was definitely different from any of the others due to everything going on in the world currently with coronavirus.

The day definitely did not begin the way we expected. As we began setting everything up, the day seemed beautiful and the weather was warm, but slightly windy. Everyone was in high spirits and getting excited, the band began setting up and customers were arriving prepared to spend a day with us on the water. However, about an hour and a half into the event the wind picked up, and the water became so dangerous and choppy that we had to make the decision to end the event early, which has never been done before. The truck ride back to the lakefront was silent, mainly because of how sad and disappointed we were that we had to bring an early end to the event we had all been looking forward to all summer. BUT THE DISAPPOINTMENT DID NOT LAST FOR LONG! Almost immediately after we returned to the lakefront, customers were calling the office letting us know that the weather had begun to clear up and were encouraging us to come back. After talking it over, the few of us that were left decided to pack up the leftover food and drinks and one dinghy into an Everglade and we headed back out for Splash Bash round 2!

Once we arrived back at the beach we were greeted by customers with smiles, waves, and cheering, which immediately boosted everyone’s mood and set the tone for the rest of the day! We all had so much fun riding around on the dinghy handing out drinks and snacks to customers, and getting to hangout in the Everglade. Overall I think our customers really appreciated how we had the motivation to come back to spend the day with them, and we definitely appreciated the encouragement and dedication to stay and hangout with us throughout the chaos! It was fun to get out there and not only get to know some of Gordy’s customers, but I really got to bond with other employees I didn’t know so well prior to this weekend.

I hope you all had as great of a weekend as I did and I cannot wait to see you all out on the lakefront again really soon! Have a Gordy-great week!
