Gordy's Fox Lake Service Center NOW OPEN!

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! This past week I had the opportunity to pay a visit to our Fox Lake location and get to know some of the employees there. I was really excited to have the opportunity to visit because a majority of my time is spent at the Fontana location, and this was a great chance to see a bit more of the company and meet some new faces. One of those faces just so happened to be Austin Delamora, who is the service manager of our newly opened Fox Lake service department. 

Delamora has been with Gordy’s for 15 years now, and actually began his career working on the piers as a young adult. 

“I first started gassing up boats on the piers, I was also in haul and launch for a little while, then I was detailing boats, but was asked to job shadow/apprentice one of our techs, and it kind of just went from there”, Delamora said. 

The change of pace throughout his work day is Delamora’s favorite part of the job, especially during the summer when there’s a lot to do and a lot to cover. 

“I’m not one to stand around and I like to get my hands dirty”, Delamora said. “I’m all for the troubleshooting aspect too. There’s always something to learn out of any issue that we handle with our boats”. 

Delamora said that he has always felt that he has a pretty good understanding of how the business works and has always enjoyed that Gordy’s value his opinions back. 


“When Tommy and Steele came to me and talked about doing this venture here I was all for it”, Delamora said. “I was excited and as far as working on boats and being my own manager, and just working on my own schedule is so exciting and I’m looking forward to seeing it grow past what it is now”.  

The Fox Lake service department has been in the works for about a year, and was originally scheduled to open April 1st. However, due to the current situation with COVID-19, the process involving things such as building permits, etc were unfortunately put on the back burner. Despite the challenges, Delamora stated that the department has been up and running for 2 weeks now and has been very successful. 

“We can do a variety of things whether it be engine oil changes, drive oil changes, drive pulls, pretty much everything boat side and engine side, stereo side, we can do here in house”, Delamora said. “We also do service calls all throughout Illinois. We’ve been traveling from here to downtown Chicago, and have service calls at least once a week”.
