Madison: Where are you from?
Matt: Kenosha, WI
M: When/how did you fall in love with music?
Matt: Always loved music, I got a chance to play guitar when I was 16 and knew that's what I wanted to do.
M: What instruments do you play?
Matt: Guitar.
M: Do you write and play your own songs or do you play covers or a little bit of both?
Matt: Mostly covers, a few originals.
M: What is your favorite song to perform?
Matt: I have a bunch depending on how I feel.
M: What made you want to become a musician?
Matt: I love playing guitar and love music. I enjoy the business aspects and meeting and performing for people.
M: Where does your inspiration come from?
Matt: Family, friends, music.
M: Any advice for aspiring musicians?
Matt: Have fun with it. Be responsible. Practice.
M: What are your interests/hobbies outside of music?
Matt: Golf, working on cars, watching movies, and hanging with family.
M: Who is your favorite musician and why?
Matt: Hendrix and 2Pac. Loved their writing.
M: What’s the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?
Matt: Learn to sing. Guitar players are a dime a dozen and they'll all be better than you.
M: How do you get ready for a performance?
Matt: Nothing special.
M: Do you get nervous before a performance? If so, do you have any tricks for calming your nerves?
Matt: Occasionally. Once I get playing the nerves go away.
M: Why do you like to play at Gordy’s?
Matt: Wonderful crowd, great atmosphere on the water, laid back, great staff.
M: How is the Gordy’s audience?
Matt: Very friendly, laid back, fun, eclectic.
